In terms of function, there are three categories of tropical boots, temperate boots, and cold boots, but the names of the different military types used will be somewhat different.
Tropical boots, also known as desert boots, mainly focus on keeping the feet dry and improving comfort in high temperature environments. The lining is either a single layer of Cordura fiber/special nylon fabric, and the better ones are replaced with super lining or coolmax. Sweat-wicking and quick-drying materials such as; jungle boots are the ancestor of tropical boots in some performances, but jungle boots may enhance quick-drying performance.
Temperate boots, emphasizing on providing waterproof and breathable in humid and rainy tropical environments, mostly made of Gore-tex lining, effectively waterproof for 4-6 hours; it can be regarded as a product between jungle boots, flight boots, and desert boots. It can be used in desert environments, but the comfort is not high. It is more suitable for water-rich environments and drivers. In the environment where the water depth exceeds the upper of the shoe, it is difficult for this type of boots to dry out in a short time after entering the water.
Cold boots, based on warm boots, have added thermal capacity, which is sufficient to cope with low temperatures and stagnant water after melting ice and snow, and is also more suitable for pilots (mainly bombers) to keep feet warm when working at high altitudes.
If the performance division is added, at most, there are multiple steel heads to improve safety or lightweight series made of new materials, and the flame-retardant type made of flame-retardant materials is replaced (but most military boots will be made of flame-retardant materials. Yes, there are not many special emphasis on this point); adapt to changing terrain, such as low-tops developed in mountain environments or mountain boots with specially shaped soles, but this is more common in foreign military.
